Balancing Crankshaft/Pulley/Flywheel

Post by Bijan »

Hi all,

I was just wondering how the crankshaft is balanced in the 2.4-litre engine.

Is it balanced together with the pulley and/or flywheel?

Or is everything balanced separately?

The reason I ask is that I would like to put a trigger wheel on my pulley.

Many thanks

Best regards,
Bijan

Hi Bijan,
This is the original workshop manual description
(Download from FChat)
First, balance without flywheel and damper.
Then repeat balancing procedure with complete assembly

Hi

To my best understanding, the cranckshaft is externally balanced by the flywheel & the harmonic balancer.
You can clearly see the counter weight`s on the backside of the flywheel & balancer.
