Removing center console of Series 2 Spider

Post by Gaelicguy »

Boa tarde amigos,
I did do a search for this first. I was sure there’d be one. But no! Just one from ThomasK helping someone replace the speedo cable on a 2.4 spider.
As you can see in the pic I’m completely stripping the car. I’ve undone the console screws and bolt at the dash, remove the 2 screws on the heater control, and of course the seat belts. But I can’t figure out how to lift the rear end to pull it out. I can see a 10mm nut thru the heater control that may be a rear bolt down. But how do you get at it. From the look of the console at the heater control, someone tried leavering out the heater control in the past and messed up the moulding.
Help would be appreciated.
Michael

Thanks Thomas,
Mine is not connected either. But how do you remove the console itself. I have all the screws and bolt at the dash. And the dash is now out, so nothing holding it there!
Does it slide back or forward to release it?

I found it! Or them. Two nuts holding the console in place just infront of the heater control. They were covered by a piece of sound proofing. See pic. ( it’s sideways)
Thanks Thomas for the help.

Hi Michael, good to hear you managed to remove it. One question to that: is it possible that you make a picture of the carpet(s) especially the ones that are under the Center console / between seats and center console?

I got my Spider without carpets and already removed center console so a pattern of the carpet pieces between seats and center console but also if there are some between sills and seats.

Thx, KR Thomas

Thomas
Note the inside strip does not have the binding sawn on. I think it may have been an afterthought as you normally can’t see the inside between seat and tunnel. These are original carpets.
