Looking for ignition switch retaining ring

Post by abarth4 »

I'm looking for the retaining ring that holds the ignition switch internals into the housing. The snap ring that I found on mine (as shown in the picture) is damaged/modified on one end and does not hold the switch together securely. Anybody have this piece laying around they'd like to get rid of? I'm assuming that it's a snap ring... this is how mine is, but may/may not be original. Any help appreciated. Thanks. Photo attached.

Search Google for "snap ring" and its diameter
and you're sure to get plenty of offers... even in your area

and it will only cost a few bugs

It is a simple curved ring made of wire. I could send you a photo after 14 April.

I just threw out an ignition switch that I had to drill out.( previous owner lost keys)
I kept the switch part and the wire circlip.
I’ll send a pic in the morning.
If you don’t get one in the near term, I’ll mail you the clip. You just pay postage from Portugal, probably €3

The gap in the spring is 23mm
Diameter of the wire is 1.48mm
Hope this helps

FYI
I don’t know if you know this, but the switch you have is probably the Russian made switch for the Lada.
The original switches are made by Sipea, they show up for sale now and again, they were also used on the 124’s and 130’s. But some of them don’t have a long enough steering lock for the Dino. You can tell the difference on the electrical portion, on the Sipea ignition, the the terminal at radial around the switch, except for the two blades for #30 I thinkApart from that you can’t tell the difference.
