Pops out of Reverse - 1967 Coupe

Title says it all.
The shifter goes into reverse easily. However, it pops out when letting out the clutch. I have to hold it in.
Is there an adjustment?

There is a reverse (backup) switch which puts a very light force to slide hardware out of reverse. There are springs acting on detent ball bearings holding the shift rods etc. in reverse which should overcome the small switch force.
A possibility could be the carpet/rubber seal gaiter and shift lever interference? Not centered, or rubber gaiter damaged or ripped.
After that, I would fear the problem is internal to the box.
