Removing a stuck steering wheel

All,

I am sending my 1967 original Dino steering wheel off to get restored and i'm having darnest time trying to remove it. Ive removed the horn button, the spring, and the center nut tha secure the wheel. From there I am expecting to just pull the wheel off but it doesn't budge. i've sprayed it with penetrating fluid but still doesn't move. is there another step? Perhaps something that secures it from underneath - I even removed the plastic housing on the underside of the steering column but can't see any obvious screws to remove. Do I need to buy one of those wheel remove tools? Any help appreciated.

I've found a few earlier threads on this topic and it reads like I need to buy a puller - any advice as to which one I should buy?

Any solid 3 legged puller. Look for cast steel arms with machined hooks not cast finish as they will slip off. The threads should also be cut and not just cast. I will add a pic of a good quality one I’ve had for 30 yrs, when I go to my shop.

Btw, if you are located in Canada or USA go to any good car parts place. Like O’Reillys, you can rent one from them for a very reasonable cost. They are generally decent tools as they get a lot of use. When you start pulling, use a hairdryer on the hub. Not an open flame.

There’s no name on this one, but the arms are cast of CR-V steel, chrome vanadium, note the machined not just cast tips and the nice almost square thread.
