Tachometer not working

Hi,
So now that the weather is finally good in North Eastern United States I decided to take my 1972 Dino coupe out. The car starts up fine and ideas perfectly. Initially when driving the tachometer seems to work fine under 3000 rpm. But once I go over 4000 rpm the tach never settles down to 1000 at idle. It keeps up at around 2-3000rpm even when sitting at a traffic light. The car runs fine otherwise. The other thing that stopped working was the oil temperature gauge. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
Regards,
Syed
