starter motor / should i try replacing?

I would like to open a topic on the starter motor. We all know that there is nothing more frustrating than to have a weak starter motor on a restored car..
Some questions:
Has anyone tried to use an early fiat 124 starter instead of an original dino starter. There are plenty of options for newly rebuilt or remanufactured 124 starter.
What about gear reduction starter. Does anyone have any experience with those.?
Has anyone used the high performance starter that Dino parts sells Germany?
I could have my old starter rebuilt, but it looks pretty beat up..
All your thoughts are welcome on this topic..

Hi,
I have built in the gear reduction starter from WOSP (wosperformance.co.uk) and I am very happy with it. Costs less than 300 Euro when I remeber right, fits and works perfectly.

Alternatetively I just got a message from a Club member, who emties up his spare parts collection - he has a NOS Starter that he wants to sell, he want to have 520 Euro.

Hi Thomas,

where did you buy the wosperformance starter?

I ve emailed some German distributors and they
wanted almost 500 eur for it. British retailers would
charge about the same price AFAIK.

If it really can be bought for about 300 eur it's worth considering...

Hi Bijan,

Peter is registered as an official german importer, I have mine from him.
I ask him if he can organise some more. Maybe you are at the "Technikseminar" next Weekend, then you can ask him personally.

Hi Thomas,

Which model of WOSperformance starter did you buy for your car?

And which model Fiat Dino do you have? (I need to replace the starter in Fiat Dino 2400)

Did it "just fit" or did you have to modify anything to male the starter fit?

Thanks!
