Oil pan drain plug

My drain plug is seriously stuck...wont budge. Can I remove the oil sender to the bottom left rear of the pan and drain from there?

The final piece to that approach would be to use a syphon to remove the remaining old oil from the bottom of the oil pan/sump!!
