Best sounding Dinos ranking

Post by Zolpidem »

Hi, during these days I watched a lot of YouTube videos regarding all the big world of Dino engines and, also, based on my experience, I think that this is the rank of best sounding Dino engines, from inside the car and according to my ear.
Interesting to discuss together why there is such a difference from one to the other.

1 Dino 2400 coupe’: fruity, very whining, very 65 degrees. A little slow to rev
2 Dino 2400 spider: as before but the exhaust is more present
3 Dino 2000 coupe’: faster in revving, whining well, exhaust more present then 2400 and gearbox noise too present
4 Dino 2000 spider
5 Ferrari Dino: transversal doesn’t improve, exhaust more present. Never driven one but I’m sure that noise from behind is nice
6 Stratos: no 65 degrees effect, brutal exhaust very rapid to rev.

Your opinion?

Hard to say. They differ only in intake and exhaust.

Well, II'm not so sure regarding your position: I would say 2000 is a really different engine from 2400 thus the sound changes significantly

Not to mention Ferrari trasversal and rear setup which I'm sure has got a high impact on sound characteristics...

Of course, there is a huge difference in the 2000 and 2400. I was thinking about the same engine in the different cars.

Is there any special way to even improve the sound of the Fiat Dino? Any ideas?

Nothing but removing silencers and air filters ;)

There have been some rear exhaust end systems without a muffler / silencer available in the 70s. But I don't know whether they are still available somewhere these days
