Can anyone tell me what this piece of trim is for, I don't see it in the parts manual.
My guess is its something to do with the soft top, either up or down, as I can't figure out where the top down cover clips to!

That looks like the trim piece that covers the underside of the steering column. I think it keeps grease from the universal joints from dripping on your pants.

Thanks Ben,
That makes sense, I only found it after the locksmith had spent two days trying to make a key for the ignition. He never did manage to make one but broke 8 blanks trying. I eventually bought a used lock/switch with 1 key.
