Without replacing the whole seat, do you guys think its possible to patch sections of the basketweave material so it matches the grain, after adding foam beneath to replace the corner and top edge that are eaten away?

I found the basketweave extremely difficult to - first - source and then replace in my early '67 spider. I found the material (Mercedes Benz had a very similar one), but eventually, I had to get the entire seat redone as the basketweave had lost all of its flexibility and was dry and brittle.

Just out of curiosity: has anybody tried to use the front seat cushions from Dinoparts (ca 1200 EUR for a set) ?
I really ask myself if it isn't cheaper to ask your upholsterer to build individual ones...
