Fiat Dino Forum (FDF)

Can anyone advise if the front grille feature on a 2.0 litre should be totally chrome or are the recesses black painted?
It seems on my car the smaller sections around the headlamps are black on the inner faces.

Anyone had these parts re-chromed in the past, looks like it is quite cheap die-cast metal to me? There's quite a lot of pitting of the metal.
....and yes, I know it should have a Fiat badge in the middle.......

As far as i know it should not be black. It's just not polished like the front of the grille so it will look slightly rough and matte.
It's not cheap die cast metal i think but it's a material called Zamak. They used it often in the 60's and 70's because it had some advantages for production but unfortunately also disadvantages. Re-chromers don't really like it for some reason but it can be re-chromed.
