Re indicator lenses, my car is in the Mike Morris book two times - once with amber lenses and with clear lenses; I’m not sure which was the first but it now has clear lenses. I did some research on this and it depends on the market the vehicle ends up in, and if an owner changes them along the way. I seem to recall some of the European markets required amber lenses for some reason.

Thanks for the excellent early pics, my car is #665.
But I like the look of the white front lamps and the separate indicator lamps. That's the way I will rebuild.
Thanks everyone for chipping in on this.
These cars are certainly an enigma.

665 is not an early car... as far as I know it should have already a wooden dashboard.
Then... rdk is right... it was depending on the markets. And those cars were only delivered to Europe and 80% out of all produced cars initailly to Italy. The German market e.g. did have the strict rule to have amber glass for indicators.

My car does have the wooden inserts in the dash.
The yellow lense covers now makes sense. the PVO was in the US army in Germany in the early 70’s. He may have picked up the car there. I’ll try and track him down. Every bit of history helps

Can anyone with a later or similar # Spider please measure your front signal lights.
Are they 26 or 36 mm diameter.
Thanks
Michael
