I have a 1967 Dino Spider, Series 1. I want to return the appearance of the door hinge areas as close to original as possible. Attached are 2 photos of the upper and lower hinge areas on the passenger door. You can see that I have my work cut out for me. If any of you have a Spider in original condition and appearance could you please send me photos of the upper and lower hinge areas. Either door is fine. Thank you for your effort and consideration.

Re: Proper Painting of the Door Hinge Areas.
I’m in the middle ( I hope) of a total restoration of a 2.0 Spider, the same colour as yours. When I stripped the doors I found that they had been resprayed and the hinges were the same colour. But when I got them off the doors I saw that they were cad played under the paint. It’s hard to tell if it came from the factory with paint & cad plate or if it came plain cad.
I digging thru old photos to see if I can spot an open doo.
It’s the same with the hinge springs.

Thanks Michael,
I'm hoping you find an old photo or two that shows the original. Is cad plating silverish?
Thanks for responding,

Re: Proper Painting of the Door Hinge Areas.
Hi Lowell,
I still haven’t found the answers to
My questions. I have another post above this one.
Cadmium plating is what all silver metal finish was until the world decided the process isn’t good for the environment.
I only found this out recently
Now it’s a zinc process similar to galvanizing but a lot finer.
I have just had a bunch done in silver, yellow and black. I’m told blue is available also.
I stripped the paint of my hinges and they are definitely cad painted under the paint. Now zinc. As where the original bolts ( of which I only have 2 out of 24)
