Fastener coatings

Post by Gaelicguy »

This should be an easy question I think :)
When did Fiat start using gold colour coatings on the fasteners in the Dino’s.
Was it changing from 2.0 to 2.4 or Spiders and Coupes?

Just a gross guesstimation / observation :? I was wondering the same, and it looks like many hardware pieces, sheet metal parts etc. and not just fasteners used more of the yellow Zn plating in early 70's, and not necessarily by model types. Also, the earlier cars before 1970 used more silver colored Cd.

Another general observation: I have noted same year cars with seemingly original components supplied with silver, and yellow plated parts, so not a perfect correlation. Possibly again, the earlier produced parts tended to be silver colored.

Thanks for this,
I’m doing a total strip down restoration so I’m going to stick with one. Colour, silver.
I’ve got lots of Fiat fasteners in gold, I’ll just have them coated.
Thanks for the response.
