Windscreen wipers do not turn off

Post by rkjcooper1 »

I can not turn the wipers off even with the relay removed!, when I bought the car the wiper motor plug was unplugged in the engine bay. The owner said he never used them? Anyway plugged it back in and was fine until the next day when I heard a chattering from the wiper relAy under the dash. I turned the wiper lever down and then up and the wipers started and can not turn off. I removed the relay and they still stay on. Is there a second relay and anything obvious to check? I presumed that with the relay out they shouldn't work!!!!

Thank you..

Hi,

If you take out the wiper motor and open up the round plastic gear holder near the motor, there is a contact switch that is meant to keep the wipers on until they return to the resting position when the switch is turned off. It's possible that this is malfunctioning or wrongly installed and keeps them going all the time.

good luck,

Could anyone tell where is located the wipers relay, and how to find it? There are several under the dash, and none of them clicks when I switch on or off the wipers.

In my case, I have no intermittent position, no speed regulation, and they do not return to the rest position..

Thanks.
