2400 Coupe battery box

Post by doublegarage »

Could someone who has a 2400 Coupe maybe take some pictures of the cover or box that'sover the battery in the boot/trunk, please?

Mine is completely missing, I might try to make one but have never seen one close up.

Thanks,

-Richard

Richard,

I'll post some pictures this weekend, if you can wait a day or two longer!

Hi Richard,
Maybe these pics help. Please note that the units are not imperial and the crack is not original ;)
Let me know if you need more details.
Regards,
Tobi

Thanks Tobi, that's perfect.

Unless anyone has a spare one of these I could buy, I'll try to make one form plywood and carpet it. Hope that's okay with everyone :-).

Also, on the left side of the boot, around the fuel filler door and pipes, there is a missing piece of the floor - i.e., there is the box that contains the spare tire, but then a big hole before you get to the left rear wing. Should there be another cover there? To stop things falling down below the fuel filler? Maybe I should take a picture, not easy to describe.

Cheers,

-Richard

Some more pics to add to Tobi's. The battery box and spare wheel cover were both missing from my car when I bought it, so I made them from marine ply after a couple of attempts with cardboard templates. Even after I obtained the correct item on Ebay I've left my home made one fitted, as it looked tidier once carpeted. Also fitted adaptor for my CTEK charger which constantly indicates battery state, and just plug in to charge.

Andy,

sorry, I'm slow to reply - thanks for your pictures - your plywood cover is what I shall build, I think - and good idea to have a socket for your battery-charger on the outside. Looks great carpeted, very nice.

Hi Richard,
If you're already installing a charger socket, think about installing a circuit breaker as well. It might be useful if you don't want to let your car under voltage when not driving.

With the cover over the battery, where does the negative cable enter the box?
