Hello.
I'm overhauling my brake system, and as a part of the job, I'm rebuilding the rear calipers. The front ones are a simple job, but the rears are a bit tricky.. I have found the way to put everyting down in pieces, and I will post the rebuild process, as I think it is interesting for all of us..
Now I have some questions, first one to come is, what is the original colour for the calipers and carrier? In my unit they were painted black at some time, but now is time to do things right.
Thanks..

Re: 2400 Coupe Rear Calipers Overhaul.
Let's get started:
Dismantling can be a bit tricky, depending of what caliper you have. I had 2 fifferent versions in my car so I assume there must be 2 types. You have to be very careful when removing the inner clip, as the spring can hit your face if you are doing the tricky one.
See the spring ring inside:
So, when everything is clean and nice, we start with the rebuild.
Be aware that Superformance rebuild kit does not include this oring, so you have to get it yourself. I used a 11.11X1.48 from my local shop.
I used a 22mm socket and a vice to compress the cage against the spring, and then insert the spring clip. Do not loose the vice unless you are really sure the clip is in the slot.
The hand brake actuator is finished.

This is what I did to my calipers: Dont know if it's original tho... (but it's good in terms of corrosion resistance)

Here also in the Dutch Dino register newsletter a bit about brake rebuilding....

I sandblasted them, and got the calipers nickel plated... First I tried electrical zinc plating (as done original) but that didn't stick. I could have get them zinc plated after the nickel to get optimum corrosion resistance and also original look but didnt do that. (if you split the 2 caliber halfs you can see the original plating on the mating faces)
But short on time now to elloborate more, but feel free to ask.
Regards
Tom

Re: 2400 Coupe Rear Calipers Overhaul.
Thanks for the info.
I finally didn't do anything to the cosmetics, except a good clean. I am rushing to have the car on the road, as it has to be inspected before I can get my registration (Tedious process). When I put the car down in pieces to start from 0, I will come back again to brakes..
Regards.
