Anybody have front caliper piston tricks?

Post by abarth4 »

2.4 Dino spider. I've got a front caliper with 3 out of 4 pistons stuck. :x I'm sure I can eventually get them out but thought I would ask if anybody has any handy tricks for removal. I don't want to split the caliper if I can avoid it.
Thanks

Normally, the pistons should come out with putting pressure with compressed air on the calliper. I could be that heavy corrosion keeps them stuck. More pressure is a good idea. Alternatively, pressure with brake fluid is a good way. But you need to built a hydraulic system to create this pressure.
And, put a wood in front of the piston, so when the piston loosens and shoots out it will not hit and harm the calliper. And keep your fingers out of the “flight path”.
Should your calliper or pistons be damaged beyond being repairable, I still have stainless steel pistons and complete callipers left for sale. Let me know.
