Fiat Dino spider newbie here
Hello
I like to introduce myself. I am the new owner of 1967 spider #282. As previous owner of 2 Dino GTSs #6288 (73) and 7796 (74) I am is totally new to the Fiat Dino. I have been sorted the car out to get everything working again. I have a question on how to remove the horn button on the spider. The Fiamm horn is working at the compressor level when I tested with 12V. I want to ask before removing it and try to avoid breaking the plastic bezel. Any information on removing it I really appreciate it.

Hi David
welcome to the BB. The horn button is kept in place by the black plastic horn ring and a spring behind the horn button. The horn ring 3 plastic tabs with the teeth pointing outward. You need to bend a straight wire in and L shape so you can push inward from the outside of the horn ring, one of the tabs..Once you get one free it gets easier..take your time these parts are fragile.
the attached picture should give you more understanding.
Your horn problem is probably not related to the horn button, but the horn relay that is on the right side of the car by the ignition box..
If yours has failed, let me know i have some extras..
stay safe

Hi Herve
Thank you so much for the photo. I suspected it's the relay. I have the same relay as in picture. Here are the meters measurements at the terminals: Blue wire to compressor 0V, red 12V, yellow 12V. Isn't that the yellow wire supposed to be 0 if horn button is not pushed? I can avoid removing the horn button if this is correct. Thank you in advance.

the other thing to consider is that you should have a switch to go from in town to highway horn..play with the switch and see if the electric horn works..
the bleu wire is your ground..the relay is always under polarity..but the switch determines which wire is hot..(air horn or electrical horn) make sure your horn relay is properly wired(use your wiring diagram if you can)..if not i will look it up for you...
regards

I got the horn button and hub off. It explains why horn is not working. The ring that riveted on is missing or broken off. Can you kindly send a pic of the other side of the steering wheel hub? Any suggestion to fabricate the ring. Also I have a question on the fuel bowl. I found the spring/cap and steel ball in the fuel bowl with no filter. What are spring/ball for? In lieu of the bowl filter they put an aftermarket inline filter before the fuel bowl. I like to buy the correct filter. Where can I source one of those? Thank you.

Any tricks to know before removing the steering wheel? It looks like there are two pins. Do I need a puller? Thanks.

Can’t help you on the steering wheel. The Fispa unit is a common parts on Italian classics, they are (among others) fitted on Alfa 105’s so your local Alfa specialist will stock them. I woud also recommend changing the rubber gasket were the bowl sits.

The ball and spring sit in the middle on top, it should not be loose and be able to fall inti the bowl, filter or not.

Thank you Scalino
I assume the spring comes with the new filter to hold the filter upright against the top? I will order new rubber gasket also.
