Seen some recent conversations about the making cost etc. of the above.
But was wondering about the purpose, does it have draw backs?
Presumably it was intended to quieten the engine noise, but only for convertibles? It only came with convertibles? (Both 2 & 2.4?)
So why not add it to a coupe (a luxury GT at the time) to make it even quieter in the cabin.
I appreciate we all love the howl of our V6, so why have it at all?
Does it cause the engine to run a little hotter?
Are there any pros or cons beyond those of originality?

Re: Sound deadening under bonnet(hood)
My motivation to fit one is purely originality and they look great. My car never had one so will be interesting to compare the soundtrack with/without. I’m a few weeks away from being able to report back though.
