Oil pressure gauge reading backwards?

Post by DanHansen »

Just received all 3 oil pressure senders from Dinoparts.eu and replaced them..
Now my oil pressure gauge are reading full pressure with the ignition on, when I crank the engine, the gauge drops to 0 and raises a bit, when revving it drops back towards zero..?
New oil, filter etc. the pressure lights are off, just after cranking....
Any suggestions?

I'm sure other people will now for sure, but I'm pretty sure that means you have the wrong sender. I've had exactly what you describe on my Alfa with Veglia instuments and a Jaeger sender, a correct Veglia sender did work correctly.

Could there be a 2.0 and 2.4 version?

Read the text on Dinoparts webshop: "Oil presure sender VDO - for reciprocal dsiplay". The original senders had been made by Veglia.
I assume that the Veglia oil pressure gauge in your car's cockpit and the VDO sender just speak different "languages" and do not understand each other. Put back the old sender and check if the gauge shows relevant values. If so you can blame Dinoparts for selling a non adequate product.
