Re: Gearbox noise

By coincidence, I have spent the last Winter overhauling two different 2 Litre gearboxes! Re your "new" transmission noise, I can think of a few possible causes: 1. If the noise is heard regardless of which gear you are using, it may be the first gear set between the constant mesh shaft an...

Re: A few basic questions

Trying to answer your questions; Most car batteries´fysical size nowadays is much more compact than when our Dinos were new cars. You will easily find a battery model fitting the battery shelf. Re the battery capacity, I got following advise from a professional car electrics´ specialist many years a...

Re: Licence plate light on rear bumper

You should find the right part with no 4147284 / 4147285 - apparently used for the 850 Coupes / 124 Coupes, as well.

Re: steering damper

The main problem with the steering damper 4170712 is that it is leaking out the oil because of an aging sealing. I don´t think cracks are a common problem. Unfortenately, the Dino is the only car using this part, and I have considered it being obsolete for many years. But - just now I found out Dino...

Fiat Dino Spider 2,0 at Bonhams´auction

Bonhams just presented a 2 litre Spider at the Scottsdale auction. From the photos the Dino looked to be in decent condition, but with non- original interior, centre console, steering wheel, rear emblem, etc. Bonhams listed the serial number as AS 000 0438, saying "which is part of the engine n...

Re: Fiat Dino production numbers

Reading the original owner´s manual, the Dino´s serial number (135 AS/AC/BS/BC 000 xxxx) is to be found at one place only - stamped into the right side front inner wing (close to the shock absorber upper support). Placed closely to this stamped-in number, there is a small aluminium plate with info o...

Re: soft top

Re the Spider soft top material,I am not sure exactly what you are asking for - but the soft top should be made of the typical canvas material, used for most italian cabriolets from the period. Some american manufacturers have used some kind of vinyl- based material, but as far as I know, Pininfarin...

Re: Fiat Dino production numbers

This all-new production info is of course very interesting, but how likely is it, FIAT decided producing just a handful of Dino Spiders during a whole year? This info means, the Pininfarina plant should have been able producing just one finished Spider body during March 1972 - then stopping producti...

Re: Magnesium valve covers protection and finish (2.0 l engi

Interesting pictures, but the picture labeled "engine number" is actually showing the engine´s ignition firing order: 1-4-2-5-3-6 ! Your engine´s serial number (135 B. 000 xxxx) is found at the right front area of the engine block, below the distributor, close to the oil filter. Re the val...

Re: Fiat Dino production numbers

I agree with Tobi - the most important question re this Dino Coupe must be if the chassis number is AC 000 3659, or BC 000 3659, or if the chassis number has been altered in some way. As I am TOTALLY convinced nothing have been done to AC 000 3670 in order to change it´s identity - in any possible w...
