Re: Wanted: Electric underdash socket for 2400 Coupé

If your Dino is wired as from factory, the under-dash 12 Volts Power outlet is fed through fuse "O", feeding the horns, the clock, cigarette lighter, etc. The actual electric contact is an older "12 Volts car accessories´ contact"- standard, similar to the "Cig-lighter outle...

Re: Speedo drive 2400 wanted please

Hi Brian! I think you are not using the correct spare parts number - if looking in the 2,4 Fiat Dino Spare parts catalogue, the part you are looking for is number 4226572. If you google number 4251626 you will find a very similar-looking part, but for the 5-speed 124 spider! Dinoparts.eu actually ha...

Re: steering damper

Concerning the SAE oil viscosity classifying system, I guess you all are aware of that engine oils and gearbox/differential oils are not labeled with the same "values". For example - an SAE 140 Gear oil is in the same viscosity class as an SAE 50 engine oil, more or less. The problem with ...

Re: steering damper

I have done this overhauling of the steering damper with a modern rubber seal (31 x 20 x 7 mm), and it is working very well. Furthermore, I have tested different oil qualities, and I can recommend using a SAE 140 rear axle oil, which gives a very good damping effect, compaired with thinner oils and ...

Re: Questions about Fiat Dino Spider first series

Patrizio has a point, that all Spiders up to s/n 0833 were lacking the Dinoplex. Also, I have found out that all Spiders up to s/n 0725 have DCN carburettors, which makes it complicated classifying 2 Litre Spiders in "early and late" - if you not just go for the interior version... I assum...

Re: Questions about Fiat Dino Spider first series

Here comes the picture from my Owner´s manual I mentioned earlier. Note the DCN carburettors and no Dinoplex. At least this (probably) very early Spider seems to have been painted matt-black in engine bay, but there is of course possible that Pininfarina changed painting routines during production.....

Re: Questions about Fiat Dino Spider first series

Hi Franz, I have looked at the photos you are referring to, and I still think there is a visible difference in colour between the front left wing (the small visible section of it) and the left inner front wing. In my opinion, the body colour seems to be lighter that the engine bay area. But I am by ...

Re: Questions about Fiat Dino Spider first series

I have an Fiat Dino Spider Owners´ handbook, which is printed in December 1967. In the black-and-white photos, strange enough, some of them show an early 2 Litre Spider, some of them show a late 2 Litre Spider, with the later wooden dash and a long centre console. However, the photo of the engine ba...

Re: Ignition lock switch wiring

Black wire connected to 30 is the +12 V power feed for ignition lock.
Black wire connected to INT is feeding +12 V to the main light switch.

And yes - it matters!!

Re: Gearbox noise

Rob, my experience is, most old gearboxes are making some kind of gear noise - but of course, there is a certain limit, over which it is not acceptable. I have understood it as it is much more noise than before the rebuild, which of course is very irritating! Questions below are only a try eliminati...
