Re: Problem with cam timing chain 1967 2000 Dino coupe

I have the manual with timing specifications on page 21. I want to first get the valve clearances set correctly before I have to change clearances to 0.5 mm [as you said, I just need to do it for one cylinder on each bank] to degree in the cams. I have a spare 2000 engine, so I have a few valve shim...

Re: Problem with cam timing chain 1967 2000 Dino coupe

I got the measurements on the valve shims and need to do some calculating and then order some correct thickness shims. The cams are all back together. I was able to do the passenger side without disturbing the alignment and without removing any pins. The driver side is back together too, but the tim...

Re: Problem with cam timing chain 1967 2000 Dino coupe

I should have mentioned this is a series 1, 2000 coupe. The chain tensioner screws in and out. I don't believe there is a spring in this style. Ben,

Dario, what is the "counter-bolt modification" that you mention? Ben.

Re: Problem with cam timing chain 1967 2000 Dino coupe

Crank pulley is ATDC 3-4 as per timing marks. I popped out both cams and wiggled the crankshaft a little and the chain came loose much easier than I had anticipated. I guess it had a kink under the tensioner that I could not see. Cams are back in, chain is on. Now I am having a heck of a time gettin...

Problem with cam timing chain 1967 2000 Dino coupe

Today I tackled the job of removing the drivers side exhaust cam to get the valve shim heights. My exhaust valve clearances are out of specification and just a little too tight. The crank was lined up with marker, all cams dead on the timing marks. I loosened the timing chain tensioner which gave me...

Re: Question about Dinoplex C AEC101CA

Very helpful and solves the mystery why the tach works in both normal and emergency modes on 1967 coupe. Thanks, Ben.

Question about Dinoplex C AEC101CA

I am doing an engine compartment refresh and engine compartment repaint on my 1967 Dino coupe. According to the outside of the box, I have a Dinoplex C AEC101CA. Everything I have read says that in "emergency" mode the tachometer is non-functional. I have a functioning tachometer in both "normal" an...

Re: Door check strap

After reading the post on door check straps I decided to look to see what comprised the "check strap assembly" only to discover mine are completely missing. Neither side is there. I see threaded holes where they should be. Does anyone have the bits that are not available at Dinoparts that they would...

Re: How do I know if engine mounts need replacing?

How do you determine "what shape the engine mounts are in"? Obviously if the rubber has separated from the metal, it is time to replace, but In my experience, engine mount usually compress over time, lowering the engine in the chassis. Do you measure the height of the rubber part of the mount or use...
